Making every hour count

When you’re in the business of selling machine hours, you’d best be sure that your equipment can stand the test of time. With preventative maintenance in place and service intervals that often exceed OEM requirements, the Technical Team at Burma Plant Hire ensure that our machines are kept in optimal condition, which provides our customers with peak uptime – all part of the professional service that we offer.

Technical Manager Stuart Larkin attests the importance of correct maintenance at the required service intervals, extending the life of our valuable equipment, which is the lifeline of our business.

“Well maintained machines maximises uptime. Planning a service with a customer eliminates any disruption to the operation. Through our service call system, our highly qualified technicians are instantly dispatched to attend to a service or a breakdown on site,” says Stuart.

So just how good is the machine equipment upkeep at Burma? Well, preventative maintenance takes place every 250 hours and oil samples are collected from all compartments on the machine. The results are instrumental in identifying the exact area that requires maintenance. Undercarriage reports are conducted on a monthly basis on our dozer and excavator track machines, which enables us to keep a close eye on wear of the sprockets and links.

“The hours the machine has been in use and where it has been in operation determines the interval of the service,” says Stuart. “Seaside conditions are harsh on pin-and-bush wear, whereas iron ore mines are abrasive, and we experience a faster rate of track shoe wear.”

With quality equipment in our fleet, longevity is all the more possible due to the integrity of a sound chassis and solid structure that renowned brands offer. The simple and methodic process of replacing worn components prevents major failures and promises optimal life out of these heavy earthmoving machines.

Ensuring a professional service to our customers is of the utmost importance at Burma and the well-timed planning of service and maintenance of our equipment as well as our technical support system is what sets us apart from our competitors.

At Burma, no project is complete until we receive the last piece of equipment from our customers’ site, where our Technical Team gets servicing and maintenance underway to be ready for the next job.
